Kleen Environmental Technologies, Inc. (KET) employs professional individuals with significant expertise in the hazardous waste/emergency response domain of the environmental industry. Each employee undergoes rigorous training and practical exercise to maintain high levels of proficiency in these areas. KET's emergency response experience includes services relegated to small private businesses, large manufacturing companies, medical facilities including hospitals, and government agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Emergency Response is an ambiguous terms and bears clarification:

Emergencies are unplanned and often unforeseen events requiring a measure of response. By nature, emergencies can be localized and non-threatening in nature given proper measures are taken to protect human health and life, or they can be more global and catastrophic in nature presenting a situation immediately dangerous to life and health.

The majority of emergency response projects undertaken by KET fall into the former category. Most emergency response situations are localized and can be mitigated with minimal impact on facility operations in general. A response requires delineation of affected areas and specific site controls implemented to prevent unauthorized entry. Such activity involves pre-response planning between KET and identified facility representatives.

KET routinely communicates with its clients on updating chemical inventories and site parameters in anticipation of a chemical release. KET trains and coordinates with facility personnel who have the greatest insight to the emergency at hand. KET has conducted a variety of emergency mitigation efforts including the discovery and management of crystallized picric acid and ether compounds, to ammonia releases and emergency storage vessel cleanouts.

An effective emergency response plan can only be implemented if an emergency is anticipated and planned for. This involves KET coordination with client representatives in reviewing and developing a coordinated emergency response plan to outline and delineate the following:

 Pre-emergency planning
Personal roles, lines of authority and communication
 Emergency recognition and prevention
Safe distances, places of refuge and evacuation routes
 Site security and control
 Decontamination procedures - Disposal planning
Emergency medical treatment and first aid
 Emergency alerting and response procedures
 Designated PPE and response equipment
 Critique of response and debriefing

Should the nature of a release be undetermined, KET personnel will respond in the greatest level of protective equipment to assess the nature and scope of the release. Consideration will be given to multiple releases resulting in a mixture of material presenting multiple exposure and chemical hazards. KET maintains the necessary air monitoring equipment to respond to most releases and may acquire additional air monitoring equipment as necessary in a 24-hour time period. Decontamination efforts and area specific monitoring of air quality is thoroughly documented. As necessary, wipe samples are collected and analyzed to measure the efficacy of the decontamination effort. Impacted areas are certified "clean" by a Certified Industrial Hygienist prior to occupation by the general public or other non-emergency personnel.
